I always thought the straight arrow was supposed to be the blue pill life and the other arrow is a man taking his own path in a different direction

It's called a Side Road warning sign in the US and Australia. Also called Exit To Right sign in some South East Asian countries. There are no equivalent for UK or Canada.

I don't know the history of how it was adopted by MGTOW. But as soon as it was, it was universally approved.

I think I've seen that in South East Asia.

Which means there's a right/left turn which you can opt for coming up.

I know it’s a road sign, indicating a small exit, but some versions of it remind me of Matthew 7:13-14.

It's a great symbol. Nearly every facet of my personal philosophy and values has veered from the road well-traveled, (or conventional) and MGTOW is an obvious and great example of that.
