We have all been there. We have all seen the relationship “puppy”. It’s cute, it looks like fun, even your heart melts a little bit when you see it. You think about it, and you visit the puppy and play with it. It’s so cute and fun, you feel like you need this puppy in your life. You finally get the puppy and bring it home, and it’s fun for a few hours. Then it howls and night and keeps you up. It needs attention 24/7. It pissed and shits all over the place, you are constantly cleaning up after it. You leave for a bit and it tears everything up in your house. You are constantly worried about the puppy getting out and running away. There are so many other people that would take your puppy and your puppy has no loyalty to you, it wags it’s tail to anyone.

You think to yourself, once this puppy matured into a dog it will be better. It will behave, it will sleep at night with me, it will stop tearing up the house and shitting everywhere. You just have to tough it out.

Either one of three things happens. You crack and decide to get rid of the puppy, it’s heartbreaking but you know it’s for the best.

Or the puppy runs away, and you never see it again.

Or, the worst option by far, is you get acclimated to the stress of dealing with the puppy and it becomes your life. You do nothing but lose sleep, clean up shit, and get bit by a dog who costs you tons of money for the occasional time of getting to pet the dog and feel a semblance of emotional investment.

You can’t get mad at the puppy though. It’s what puppies do. It’s their nature, and they don’t know any better.
