How does his wife affect your relationship?

So I'm a number of years older than my brother so we're not super close. We get along ok but we don't see each other much. His wife is kind of a smart ass, seems a bit narcissistic, and has tried getting me to do stuff for them like babysit their pets when they go out of town. So anyway, thought about reaching out to have more of a relationship but it seems like she has to be involved in everything he does. Debating whether to reach out more or just kinda keep the status quo.
