tl;dr Don't be entitled to success.
The Experience to Prompt My Realization
A family member called me last night while I was reading RP material and house-sitting, so the abrupt demand to socialize caught me off guard after sitting in an empty, dim, silent house for hours reading. I wasn't irritated by the call, but I wasn't jumping with joy at the prospect of a phone conversation, either.
She asked me how I was. I answered. Silence. I was just not immediately in the mood to go above and beyond with my answers like a diligent AP English student in high school. But I can say without a doubt I wasn't coming off as sullen, just withdrawn.
Within the first minute of talking she said:
"I guess you don't want to talk, then. I'll leave you be."
Then it hit me.
The Realization
There are two types of people in this world: people who feel entitled to success and people who don't. She called me and she shifted the blame onto me by not wanting to talk. If you choose to call someone, you need to take responsibility for driving the conversation forward. If you call wanting to keep a close relationship strong, it's on you to do it.
So I said, "That's because you called me. I didn't ask you to call me or call you. So you shouldn't be angry when I don't feel like talking. The responsibility is yours."
Take Responsibility
This sense of entitlement can be a pain in the ass to deal with, so just remember, there are actually people out there who expect others to bring them success without working for it themselves. Don't be one of them. They initiate social interactions and get angry when the other person doesn't bend over backwards to make the social interaction pleasant and worthwhile.
Nevermind alpha and beta for the moment. This is the true determiner of character. You can create opportunity and take advantage of it. Take the initiative and create opportunity for yourself. In relationships or friendships with females, you will almost always have to lead, but if you want to have successful male relationships, you have to be prepared to be the President of the United States in the event of a bomb going off at the State of the Union Address, even if you're the Secretary of Agriculture. A healthy group of males consists solely of leaders, who respect each other because no one is burdened with a sense of entitlement to success. They all have a profound responsibility for all of their actions. Everyone may not appreciate it consciously, but everyone respects and responds to it it on a deep, instinctual level.
Don't be dependent on anybody for your happiness.
Oh, and after she said replied bitterly, I closed my laptop, stood up, and kept up an engaging conversation for the next 10 minutes, because I understand that more often than not, success is achieved because the conditions for it are created. It ended on a tone that completely erased the awkward prelude. Because I decided it was worth putting an effort into.
I took away the distraction of the computer and became the silver-tongued devil I know I'm capable of being when I take matters into my own hands and decide I'm willing to work to achieve my goals.
Battle Cry
No matter how simple it is, a man commits himself to his present occupation with all of his heart. This drive is the muscular system of society. But the rare gritty-woman can also achieve this, as long as she takes complete responsibility. Everyone may not learn this but everyone can, and as a member of the red pill community, you need to.
