Women I've found are actually usually pretty good at math because it requires rote memorization as opposed to critical thinking.

Where they start to fall apart is any discipline that asks you to synthesize new information based upon the principles you've already learned.

Crunching numbers = easy

Designing something new that won't fall apart immediately = more difficult

edited to add:

in my last C++ programming class, there was 1 girl who was clearly on top of all the information and super sharp (good for her), and 1 older woman who was obviously entering a new career field after 30-some-odd years of whatever she did before, but was studying and diligently taking notes, and then there were seven other girls who were all basic bitches and had no idea what the fuck they were doing.

Three or four of them dropped in week 2.

One of them came to me continually for help because I appeared to get the lessons, I tried to explain a few extremely ground-level, day-one concepts to her and she completely blank-eyed.

So, maybe I wasn't doing a good job of conveying the information - maybe I should have tried to find a way to relate it to The Bachelor in some way, or something, but my personal (and anecdotal) experience is that the majority of the women in STEM are not even remotely suited for it.

There are a few exceptional individuals who can excel in it but that's what they are, exceptions.
