Telling others that not working hard and not working 70 hour weeks in your 20s and 30s is something that you will regret. What do you guys think about this? I have been looked down upon greatly by all my high achieving classmates. Yes they make a bank, have flashy Insta accounts with a photo of a 3000 pound bar tab. They have pics of them sailing in Mexico and going to iceland. I was talking to a friend of mine who had always behaved rudely to me and she told me that as a trader at JP Morgan she works from 7 am till 11 pm including saturdays.

I am from a developing country so people in my country are even fiercer. They have it all. CFA levels 1,2,3, MBA from Wharton, Hbs, top GMAT scores yet drink every day. I feel like a loser when I talk to them. They look down upon me, don't talk to me, wear 4000 dollar coats. Will I regret not working as hard as them? Will I regret getting a master in finance from a public school and not getting into an ivy league and then going onto private equity or VC? Will I regret not getting into data analytics and earning 150k a year? Are my friends happy?

Why am I just happy lying in bed, reading and doing nothing rather than facing people? I feel a lot of it depends on genetics? I was an overachiever throughout my life. Topped high school, went to LSE where I got terrible grades and subsequently got into state schools. I was the one buying 400 dollar shirts and getting drinks for everyone. I kept chasing ans chasing but nowadays the only happiness I get is from reading a good quote.

I am starting my first job within 10 days. It will be in luxury management. I am getting paid peanuts in the start. Have j made a mistake? I am 23
