Remembered my worth and had a great first date!

After taking a year off, I (F35) returned to the dating world in June. It’s kind of been one train wreck after another from OLD to friends with benefits. I was desperate for something to work so I could feel dateable or lovable and I started to settle. I overthought everything and self-sabotaged then beat myself up when someone I didn’t actually want didn’t want me.

A friend that I hook up with every few months for the last couple years came back into my life and I told him I am not interested in just hooking up anymore and I’m looking for something more. Then he said he wanted to take me on a proper date and I agreed. He never took me on a proper date but called a few times late at night asking if I wanted to get a drink. I declined each time as I made it clear I wasn’t available for booty calls.

I considered taking another break from dating but decided to date different.

When he texted me a few nights ago at 11:00pm I told him he should have hit me up earlier in the day and left it at that. He didn’t respond so I think he got the point.

It was like a light switched on in my head a couple weeks ago and I remembered that I deserve to be treated so much better than what I was allowing. I am worth so much more than a booty call! I found the confident woman I was before a failed engagement and losing the most important people in my life. She was buried by sadness and perceived failure. I remembered how it felt to feel like the powerful goddess that I am.

So I got back in the OLD saddle and decided to just have fun and have zero expectations. I matched with a cute guy from Russia and we went to a museum and dinner today. I was confident and completely myself and it went really well. We plan to go out again and I’m not stressed wondering if he likes me or if I said the wrong thing or waiting with bated breath for him to text. I’m super proud of myself and I have another lunch date tomorrow!
