Why do happily married men wish they were single?

I've met a lot of older and younger men alike who were married and commended me on staying single, claiming that I did a smart thing. "'So are you married or engaged or anything?' 'No I'm single. I just don't wanna get married at all. It's been that way since I was a kid.' 'Good; smart move.'" This is how a lot of the conversations go 99.9% of the time unless I met some blue pilled guy at work. Why do supposedly married men always say this?
