So let me share with you all a story...back when I was 13 years old I started volunteering at *a place\* off the book back in New York as a janitor. It worked the nighttime shifts as I had school during the day and would clean the build which had 3 floors. On a good night I could knock that out in say 4 hours and then take the last 2 hours of the shift off to do my school work and such. I stood working at this job all through high school and into college as well where I had a more fleible schedule.

Then one day I got called into the office and was told that my hours were being cut. When I asked why they simply told me, "budget cuts." Now I understood the place I worked at was having a bit of a financial hardship so I kept my mouth shut and accepted my fate. Towards the end of the following work week, I got called into the office again and was told that, "Unfortunately we are going to have to lay you off for a while due to budget cuts. Now this has nothing to do with your performance, but there is a lady in need of a job who is recently divorced and has a kid so we want to help her out."

Me, being a naive 18 year old at the time thought, "well hey...at least they're helping someone that's in need." YES...at one time I had a heart for others and believed in the idea of charity for those in need. Looking back at it in retrospect, what gave them the right to make a decision like that?

I was the loyal employee that worked the hours nobody wanted

I was the once always stuck with the shit assignments \no pun intended*

I was the person they called last minute when they needed an extra person

Eventually when I got back to work, word came down the grape vine that she was getting free housing from a person that worked there, free gift cards to buy groceries (on top of receiving WIC), free health care through her previous husband...free everything yet when I came back to work she complained to administration asking for more hours saying, "But I'm A SINGLE Mom" which resulted in my hours to get gradually cut again.

The lesson here boys is if you ever work in an environment where they favor women, realize it's just a matter of time before they try to replace you...
