Hollywood is creatively bankrupt. Shoveling out the same garbage year after year. More capeshit, more reboots/remakes, more sequels. Absolutely pinnacle of soulless. The movie theatre is a waste of time and money, designed solely for the sheep.

I didn't find it to be much of a comedy, which is fine, I don't have an issue with a serious concept of a MIB movie.

A lot of the movie is very serious. Completely devoid of humor. The problem is the humor was forced when tried, and not very well done. Hemsworth may be able to make fun of himself, but he's not really a comedian. He just does more dumb shit like stupid thor, or Ghostbuster 2016 making fun of himself. No one else in the film is funny.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the film, but it's absolutely not memorable.

Will Smith is funny, both physically and with comedic timing. In the first MIB, he's thrown all over, gets his ass kicked, etc. for comedic effect. His wackiness is balanced by his partner, who is stoic and sarcastic.

None of that takes place. The male protagonist couldn't deliver humor, and was mostly just treated as comic relief, and the female protagonist didn't really do anything, and you can't identify with her at all.

You could identify with Will Smith a bit, a fish out of water and bad shit happens to him, and he reacts to alien nonsense like a normal person is. He's our way of experiencing the world of aliens.

It's no different than Harry Potter. He's not super powered until much later in the movie series, but prior to that he's just who we follow through a weird world and experience is as new with the same kind of wonderment.

The female, who is supposed to be our conduit in this world, is all super genius from the beginning. This isn't an out-of-water type of character who may have some impressive skills, but we identify with her, other than a couple minor fuckups she's up in running on day one. I can't identify with some super genius obsessive compulsive about aliens hacking satellites and everything else.

Ironically, in Ghotbusters 2016, Leslie was the best character, because she was just some subway worker, and didn't get into any of the nonsense as all the super geniuses. The movie still sucked, but from a character standpoint that wasn't the worst move.

Is this supposed to be impressive? Making super villains is fine, you're supposed to identify with the hero, but there's just no way to do this. There can't be any humor cuz slit. And slit can never be shown as less than perfect.

How could they have done this? Do you recall seeing Lucille Ball's famous chocolate scene? She always assumes she's a genius about everything and attempts to implement it despite everyone telling her not to. She ends up generally fucking up in all of her schemes due to hubris, and her attempting to fix it causes a comedic moment.

But you can't do that anymore, cuz slit. And slit needs to constantly be babied and patted on the head and jingle keys at it, since apparently girls have very low IQs and can't possibly have any sense of humor or character complexity.

At best, you have a couple female comedians that will barely do self-deprecating humor, and usually fuck that up and only do it on a very minor level.

So women are worse in comedy now, than they were when television was in black and white.

Pity, cuz slit. And slit isn't funny and you can't make fun of slit, so they're pointless in movies.

All these inclusion movies and all these fake actresses claiming they got no shot when they're making so much more money than common people can eat shit.

Anything with "romantic" in the title or genre is a chick flick, zero interest, will not watch under any circumstance.
