It's no secret that women are much more easily in conformity to the culture and demands of society. The English societies, although they were increasingly darwinist; the degrees of religiosity were much higher, and dominated many aspects of culture, in which some of these many remnant laws exist.

Now, you have the majority of 20 year olds talking about how tall, strong, muscular, handsome and rich someone needs to be before they can have condom sex with them.

I feel like men have a more violent conceptualisation of the consequences of a Darwinist society. Which women don't have to deal with. So men are latching on to the more romantic and identitarian attitudes which provide them with a collective identity where they can say, "Hey, that person standing over there that is collecting and distributing the resources around me, is not my enemy".

I also feel like this was kind of the purpose of religion in general, to provide people with the foundations of either conforming to the culture of their conquerors, or finding a way to live with the people they're dominating.

For example, when the Germans were defeated, the Catholic Church at the Vatican II Council (1965) officially changed its theology on the Jews and Non-Christians in general, where they could now go to heaven without becoming a member of the Catholic Church or even a Christian of any kind as long as they were a "good" person.
