This is animal abuse and harming something that is entrusted to you for vindictiveness is a sign of mental illness.

I've watched many an animal rescue show. The worst perpetrators are always women, and always have an excuse for their inhuman treatment of animals.
The animals mistreated by males are bad (but not the worse), and they admit fault immediately when confronted by a law officer.
