A little about me:

I'm an introverted guy that can be social when the time calls for it and I'm pretty understanding and patient, especially in friendships and relationships. I was single for a couple of years after a bad breakup from a somewhat turbulent relationship but I still chose not to be jaded from my past experiences. I did believe in the idea of loving someone special so I still wanted to give it another chance. That's what persuaded me to be in a relationship again and this post is about that.

My experience (sorry for how long this is):

I met a girl about six months ago and she seemed like a great person who appreciated my personality and quirks. After we became serious, we did most things together and she appreciated that I did nice things for her and went out of my way to make her happy. She was smart, down-to-earth, ambitious and beautiful and seemed like she was the ideal girl for me. The problem was that soon after we became serious, she began enthusiastically planning more and more things for us to do without asking me if I was free those days or what I wanted to do. She gave me the illusion of choice but whenever I would say no to something she wanted to do, she became slightly cold and distant. We even spoke every single night over the phone because she wanted to.

As the first couple of months passed, she told me she wanted to see me more often so I tried to spend more of my free time with her, which I knew would take its toll on me but I did it because I liked her. It got to the point where we were together a couple of days during the week and every single weekend; Friday nights, Saturdays, Saturday nights, and all day Sunday. Sometimes she would want me to stay overnight Sunday nights, even though I told her that I had to get up early for work the next day. When I did decide to go home on a Sunday night because of work the next day, she would still get upset as if I did something wrong. I'd ask her why she would get upset over something that was out of my hands, she would tell me to just let her feel upset about it because what she was feeling was "valid."

I eventually tried explaining to her that some weekends we should spend time apart so I can focus on myself and my goals and also just to recoup my energy from my long work weeks and she could do the same, she reluctantly agreed. However, soon after she started subtly insisting I see her those days that I told her I wanted for myself. I'm a good-hearted, patient guy but I started getting frustrated that she kept persisting and that she didn't take my wishes seriously so I let her know. She somehow made it about her and how she didn't deserve the tone I was taking with her and totally ignored what I was saying. I didn't continue that conversation because I knew that she wouldn't understand no matter how much I tried explaining.

Another thing that I started noticing is that she had this deep hatred for white men and men in general. She oversimplified and reduced the behavior of men into something that was almost a cartoon-like stereotype. She bought into the whole "All Men Are Trash" hate campaign, which really was the turning point for me and changed how I saw her. After I got upset that she would ever agree with that sexist BS, she tried to explain to me that the phrase didn't literally mean 'All Men Are Trash" and she made up some nonsense about it meaning that some aspects of masculinity are toxic and should be done away with, which I counter-argued that femininity had some toxic traits too and if a group claimed that "All Women Are Trash" it would quickly be condemned and banned as hate speech. She still didn't agree and she couldn't see her own hypocrisy so I just left it alone.

The last straw was when we spent this New Year's weekend at her mom's house while she was away. It was a relaxing and fun weekend and our last day there was on New Year's Day. A couple of weeks prior she planned for us to go to this New Year's Eve event that I didn't want to go to but at that point I didn't want to argue with her about it. When it came time to pack our stuff and leave, I nicely asked her to make sure I didn't forget anything because I was trying to help her clean up the house and also her mom's place is very far from both of our places so I didn't feel like driving back all that way for a few items.

We left and half the way back she realized that she hung my favorite jacket in her mom's closet and put both my phone and car charger in her mom's drawer without even telling me that she did and forgot about it. I got really frustrated and she could tell that I was. When we got to the New Year's Eve event, I was still pretty angry about how she forgot about my things. She tried to comfort me and said "we could just go and buy a new jacket and chargers and next weekend we could drive back to my mom's place and spend the weekend there and bring back your stuff when we head back" After I asked her why she put my things away without telling me, she said "It's your stuff so you should've realized that you didn't pack those things and asked me where they were." I couldn't believe her lack of logic. At that point I felt like she was trying to manipulate me so I told her that I can't do this anymore and left her at the event with her girlfriend. She texted me that it was awful that I left her there and that I made her cry. I told her that this isn't working out and that I wished her the best and that's it.

This happened last night so I'm still pretty upset about it but I just wanted to share my experience in hopes that I get some support or words of wisdom so that it can keep me from emotionally texting her and having my feelings for her resurface. I love what this sub stands for and I really appreciate everyone's feedback. Thank you all.
