Alimony payments is not a thing where i live.. If you get a divorce you are basically on your own. And most children are split 50/50 between their parents, which means none of them pay child support to the other one. (But why would you not pay child support? If you have children they are still your responsibility, even when living with the other parent..)

It is the same shit in Europe - Germany. A colleague of mine divorced after 1 year and had to do the following:

spend one year separated, but it counted as married time
had to pay her 50% of the difference between his and her's pay for the period they were married
had to pay for the rental of a big flat that she wanted, after she moved out with her new boyfriend
as I heard from the other divorced guy, it is even worse if you have a kid. As a man, your chances to get the kid in the court are slim to none. Heard it firsthand from a lawyer specialized in divorces.

It is like that in a lot of european countries.

I don't see one good thing about it.
