Cooking is definitely one of the things I'll keep doing manually by myself (or in pair or group) for as long as I am able to.

"Eating" with eyes, preparing the food, listening to my body and my mind as I think of the ingredients I'll use, relaxing and, well, meditating actively as I prepare the ingredients, enjoying and observing the smell coming out of the pot, enjoying making it a social occasion, doing it together with others. Time to talk about really important stuff, even if it's trivial. To get a sense (not just audio, but the whole package) about how I am, the other person is and we are. Time to combine food nurture with person nurture - where we are headed, plans, ails, issues, obstacles, suggestions, second opinion, a chance to really really matter?

Here's an exercise: think about a barbecue with the people whose presence you enjoy, on a not necessarily sunny day, just ordinary, not bad weather. Is it not a happy place? Does the idea not fill you with joy, contentedness, purpose? Isn't it a place in your consciousness where you can simply "just be" and it's enough?

Now tell me, why would you give all that up to a machine just so you get "more time" to worry about what is actually not even really your thoughts - problems, bills, numbers, more, chores, hurry, worry, faster, detachment, isolation, ..., fear.

Or just learn to cook for yourself. It's very fulfilling and fun. There is a reason all the top Chefs in the world are and have been men.
