Just got banned from this sub for telling a girl she should not try to change men and instead see a therapist to figure out her life. Mods muted and banned me for being MGTOW

I've dated some great people but some have been WAY to obsessed with saving money to the point with two of them it impacted their jobs b/c they refused to purchase clothing that flattered them, looked like it was in good condition or was work appropriate. I don't expect gifts but I've watched two of these guy literally going to 5 below spending $20 on a grab bag of 'stuff' that was just 'stuff' for x-mas and birthdays ect. I dropped VERY clear 'this is what i'd like' and it wasn't crazy expense and within the budget we set ($150). Are there any ways to discuss this with a guy? Or red flags that there might be a bigger issue here? At what point is this guy just being cheap or watching his money?

I dont mean frugal. I mean cheap. Saving is awesome and cutting where you can makes sense. I mean the guy who wont fix a house bc hes saving when its leaking, or replace shoes that are visibly falling apart and can afford too.
