If you recut it and play it in correct order the main character seems like a lunatic with a boring story of simping. And Zooey is horrible but a Winona Rider replacement as "manic pixie girl" because Hollywood needed one in rotation.

Her character does show she's a moron. The whole time Joseph is trying to get with her she doesn't want a BF, then gets married at the end because she's with the right guy. Of course, Joseph goes right back to the plantation and cucking.

He's blue pilled as fuck from the beginning.
