How do I convince my boyfriend that my male best friend isn't a threat?

I'm a 22 year old woman who's just graduated college. While in college, I met my best friend Colin. He was on my course and we've been friends for 2 years.

Colin is harmless. He's 23, a bit hopeless in love and wants to settle down and be a stay at home dad. He's funny, and I love being around him. I am not at all attracted to Colin. He is not at all attracted to me.

I live in Manchester, and Colin works in Manchester but commutes here. This means we don't see each other very often and when we do, it's cocktails after work.

I met my boyfriend just after graduation - we've been together a few months. He's never met Colin, and it's not really possible because my boyfriend works evenings but that's the only time me and Colin are both free to meet.

I think my boyfriend is starting to get suspicious of Colin. He asks whether Colin has a partner a lot, and if he can meet him, and why Colin is the only one of my friends he's never met. He's even asked me if Colin has ever had a crush on me, to which I laughed and said 'no, most of us think he's secretly gay' - I think this just made things worse.

I think things are about to get even worse... because Colin and I want to go on holiday together, just the two us.

We want to go on a pool holiday next summer and we want to book it soon. Colin never really clicked with the rest of the people in our group at college, so that's why we're only going the two of us. Colin's done this kind of thing before - all his closest friends are women so he often goes away, just the two of them. He's a super sweet and innocent guy and he's definitely, definitely not sleeping with them.

How can I prove to my boyfriend that Colin's not a threat? I understand why he'd be worried about something happening with Colin and I but that's just not on the cards. I know it seems early but I want to nip it in the bud before my boyfriend's suspicions really take hold.

Edit: Reddit, you’re really horrible at relationship advice. I’m not fucking Colin. I’m not a bad guy for having a friend. I’m maybe a bad guy for wanting to go on holiday with a guy my bf hasn’t met. That much I understand.

But it’s not like I’m over a Colin’s place every other weekend, hanging out with him every night. I get to see one of my closest friends once a month at most.

The best advice was to see it from BF’s perspective. You’re right, I’d be worried if we hadn’t met.

They’re going to meet. Then I’ll bounce the idea with BF. If he hates it, I won’t go on holiday.

Thank you to everyone who gave me ACTUAL advice.

And to everyone saying unnecessary, unpleasant things: I’m sorry you got hurt, and that you’re too fulled by your dick to have an honest male/female relationship. I wish you had a friendship like mine and Colin’s. Good luck with your lives.
