Every year as an adult the Holidays get more stressful and less fun

Fill up a backpack with clothing and money. Go to the bus or train station and get a ticket to anywhere.

There's no reason to live a life you're unhappy with. Go start a new one. There's literally no negative. So you give up some pots and pans. Who cares.

On the other hand, I did some call center work, I always loved working the holidays for over time and that there was rarely any real work to do.

holidays havent been fun since i was 16 and started working. Ive probably missed 12 or the last 16.

I love that Corona commercial with the lights on the palm tree. That's pretty much my idea of the holidays. Everything else - the awkward family reunions, the rampant consumerism, the tired old songs and movies, and of course the obligatory relationship outings - I choose to reject them all and GMOW. I've been tuning out the entire cultural spasm for years now and it's great.

Stop complaining, you've probably still got the tree left to put up :)

Check out what's available nearby on AirBnB, sometimes it's nice to rent a secluded cabin for the weekend and enjoy some solitude

Seems like the holiday became chores to you. But ask your mother if she'd rather you be unemployed for Christmas instead. If your boss won't give you the day off, what are you going to do? Hit something? See if she'd settle for a long Skype call. Also, try not suffering from anticipation. Or else it will only get more stressful. Perhaps a long walk if you live in an area safe at night. Clear your head...

First off, this is the busiest period In the entire year for the u.s. postal Service, ups, FedEx, etc. If you don't have your s*** together, they're not going to hold your hand.

Second, you sound like a major blue pill loser. You're taking s*** from your mom, your sister-in-law, your boss, and your wife. Stop whining and figure out what you want to do with your life.
