Sometimes when I look around at the society that humans have created I wonder how it is possible that a group of primates who can conceive the Higgs boson cannot deal with the fundamentals of human nature. All the worlds religions and all the worlds philosophers have struggled with human nature. Billions of dollars are spent on therapy as people struggle to grasp meaning and understanding in their lives.

The truth is far simpler. As a society of primates we behaved like other primates for hundreds of thousands of years. Dominant males guarded their harems of females who eagerly sought out those males for resources and protection. Lesser males fell into line with the use of either aggression for the lowest ranked and favours and attention with those more highly ranked.

Much of what goes on in modern society is a more nuanced version of this behaviour. Almost all of us are fed the lie very early on that society operates differently. It does not. Unfortunately, we are fed the sanitised and religiously filtered version of human nature.

We need to realise that we are just apes with clothes on who happened upon a way to eat bone marrow. However, if we can conceive of the Higgs boson we can conceive, plan and enact going our own way.
