I come home Sat night and see a car parked in my allocated space. Parking is tight where I live so I park my car behind it outside my neighbours house leaving enough space for the car to move in the morning when it leaves.

Sunday morning I come out my house to see the car is moved and I go to move my car back into my space.

On my car is a printed A4 piece of paper saying:

“Dear visitor

This is private land, please be polite and park your car somewhere else and not outside my house”

I knock on the door of the house I’m parked outside. I guy comes to the door, white as a ghost, shaking, and opens the door. I see he’s scared so I’m polite,

I say “is this your note mate”?

He looks at the floor and says “um...you p***ed off the girlfriend”

I point to my space and say “haven’t you seen my car parked in that space for the last 7 years?”

Him “Um...no”

“Did you see the car in my space last night”?

Him “Um...no”

Me “that’s why I had to park here. Anyway mate, I feel your pain, I hope things work out for you”

I shake his hand and move my car back to my space.

What annoyed me was that he clearly didn’t agree with sticking a note on my car. Further, if I was violent or angry, he was potentially in for a beating, all cos his girlfriend was annoyed.

Also the note said “my house” not our house.

She actually had to go upstairs, turn on the PC, print out a note, put it in a plastic sleeve (yes it was in a sleeve so it didn’t get wet), cut the sticky tape, and place on my car, yet she was so short sighted she didn’t recognise my car (large Audi with a private plate) parked in the space facing their house every day for the last 7 years.

Emotions trump logic again.

How sad.
