It's nice to be able to splurge on things. I recently dropped $600 for some new toys on a whim. Didn't have to ask permission or worry about getting shit on for my choices. I wanted something and bought it.

Masculine men never explain, justify or bargain. Truth be told my father has never done any of that, and I don't think any of my uncles ever have either.

It seems like it's something men on the internet and on TV do, and perhaps that next generation of men that are married now and not married 20+ years ago. I suspect it's an expectation of current women, who grew up watching TV and seeing effeminate men grovel and beg their wives.
