Nothing new about women exploiting a tragedy for her own gain.

In Australia a few years ago, a boy by the name of Luke Batty was killed by his estranged mentally ill father. The boy's mother, Rosie Batty, started a hugely misandric (not to mention equally hugely successful) organisation called the "Luke Batty Foundation" to raise awareness of male-initiated domestic violence. Never mind that the death of Luke Batty was a mental health issue and not a domestic violence issue, over the course of several years, the Luke Batty Foundation collected millions of dollars in funding from various levels of government and private organisations in Australia.

As the head of the foundation named after her son, Rosie batty took every opportunity to get in front of a camera and push the anti-male DV narrative we all know so well. That she used these opportunities to push for ever increasing levels of funding. About a year ago - for whatever reason - the accounts of the LBF were made public. This revealed that despite the aim of the LBF to provide assistance to victims of DV, almost none of the funds raised by the foundation actually towards providing any kind of assistance whatsoever. In reality, nearly all the moneys raised by the LBF were consumed by administrative costs and salaries for employees of the foundation. Essentially, Rosie Batty (and presumably all the women employed to administer the LBF) made a healthy living out of the tragic death of a little boy.

It should also be noted that recently, White Ribbon Australia has been caught out running the same racket.
