It's a story about a boy who grows up with an alcoholic father and a dominant mom. She forces him to study and go to school so he eventually grows up to be a doctor. Then he gets married and his wife conflicts with his mom but the wife eventually dies.

Its an extremely depressing read but a true reflection of female nature. I really need to finish this book. Please help me identify it.
