I had worked for the federal government for many summers - I also worked for my uncles risk management firm, there I learned how to sell myself and getting to get people to buy something they need I created an LLC on legal zoom, filled paperwork with various government regulatory agencies, took classes for a certified financial charter license and opened a small consulting firm focusing originally on business strategy. I started with local businesses' (bars mainly; I would represent them with P.O.A. in meetings they didn't want to go too and since I had a couple of accounts I had some bargaining power and managed to do more than just sit there for them - I obtained permits for sidewalk seating) the small accounts gave me oppurtunity to network and when I could say that I helped 5 businesses increase their revenues by 35% I demanded a retainer. I took myself very seriously, bought an omega watch that Don Draper had and got to handle other accounts that were battling red-tape. I got my first big retainer 25k for an account with 100k in billings - I expanded with the new capital and got the bank too increase my credit limit so I could manage cash flow.
There is no genius to what I did nor luck - just a couple well-fitting suits and I had some pull with my congressional member which helped big time.
I have now shifted away from consulting; no new clients, my firm is licensed to do public opinion polling, im excited to work with my congressman on a professional level 4.5% of campaign revenue is all mine. If I am successful (accurately predicting within 3 points; I have a deal lined up with a news network to supply them with data)
And no, I don't personally poll anyone I just redeveloped existing methodologies (sorry can't give that part away its proprietary) increased the poll size and am hoping for a fun 2018/19/20... The goal is to hand over day to day to my brother and sister while attending law school. I would still be responsible for my clients and meetings but that is not a problem since everything is secured for the upcoming years.
Word of note to others if you're young like me: that's your best asset if you sell it the right way (think innovative modernization etc..)
Put your toes in the water and jump that's the best advice I can give - also - make sure you have a clear business plan, I fucked that up but my uncle helped me since he started his own business. Don't be afraid of rejection it happens often - I didn't mention that because it's irrelevant because prospective clients who turned me away tried to get me back I doubled their retainer with a contract for 3 years - my loss was also my windfall.
Just realize working for yourself is tough you need to be highly critical - you need to put in the hours - network like crazy (you write it off anyway)
If the network deal pulls through - I will sell out after a few years or if a conflict arises with the firm I get hired at. I'm thinking 2022 it could be worth in excess of 20M. Right now I am living well sitting on my Business Gold Card Amex and a shit ton of unused points.

i as well applaud the self-improvement, but you mentioned inheritance and a well-off family. You were already born set from the beginning and you just got lazy and spoiled as expected from a person in your shoes. But daddy money must be nice. Cant relate though.

Not trying to be a dick but my dad got cancer from the 9/11 attacks it actually fucking sucks - my family is well off and I didn't touch my inheritance - just used it as collateral to secure my original credit line Try not to assume based on the cover - I built this from scratch.

Just cabinet member; don't get me wrong if I was picked for the supreme court I would accept but I see that as highly unlikely given my career trajectory. Having been acquainted with Henry Kissinger and Colin Powell - I know that that job is what I want. I have no desire to run for office and I do not foresee that changing. The Presidency is not what I want - I'd pass if I was ever even asked to run.

Thank you, and I learned from the best - I hope this doesn't give me away - my tutor is a rhodes scholar who got a 178 on his (old friend from childhood.) Without his guidance, I would still be pulling 160s.

I applaud your massive changes but.
People like you piss me the fuck off. You obviously have drive, intelligence, and know how to work hard. Instead of best utilizing that to make a ton of money or change the world or live your dreams, you want to become a professional parasite. You want to control the lives of others whether naively or maliciously. You wan't life on easy mode where you just lie and lie and get paid by special interests groups. It's like the dark side. Smart enough to break out of the matrix but so devoid of morals as to become an agent of the system.
People don't care too much about morality these days though, other than using the idea of it to push their agendas and deceive the stupid/uninformed.

I am terribly sorry you view the world that way - my goal in life more than anything is to help rebuild the middle east and stop the perpetual war by focusing on all of the traumatized people afflicted by war - my theory is that the exposure to terrorism and war will create another generation of jihadist - I am so so so sorry I want to stop this.
I have no interest in being a parasite, I love this country, my father and grandfather and great-grandfather were all navy men. I want nothing more than to make a positive influence before I die. Sorry I didn't fall into your stereotype.

I am not seeking power for more power - and your completely off as it relates to my character, and I hate special interest groups - but I do recognize the importance that certain industries play in our national economy and that is something that is of prime importance without which many laws would never get passed. I am a realist.

Ahh my initial gut feeling was right. It is out of naivete. (Unless your already getting some practice in for your political career which is probably the case.)
The reality is you will probably do nothing to change foreign policy. You have a price and every organization corporation and special intrest group knows this. And you can lie to yourself forever but that wont change.
If you were a realist you would realize the only way you could help america and the world as a whole would be to reduce the governments power in every way, stop nation building/foreign interference with developing countries/the middle east etc, disband regulatory laws made to strangle the free market and reduce competition for giant corporations that have become monopolies, stop the printing of money, pay back our debts, minimize taxes and maximize freedom, and more im not thinking of atm.....
Do you think anyfucking body will let you do any of those things or even move towards those things? No they fucking wont. Thats like showing up to mcdonalds for work and then telling all the customers the food is shit, not to eat there, giving out cookbooks of how to make healthy food at home, and then expecting to still have a job the next day ( Or putting all those things as what you intend to do on your cover letter and then expecting to get hired )

I have a price - because I made my own business and have made moves at creating financial independence - which as Benjamin Franklin wrote is mans' ways of allowing him to have the means to follow his pursuits. That's called capitalism my friend - it is unbecoming to be jealous of others success. In terms of being having a price - I assume you think I can be bought. That is incorrect and not based on facts but rather your mistrust in mankind.
You don't have trust in the government, which is your prerogative, not that I blame you. And, I believe I wrote I attend a program at the UN for International Relations and Global Diplomacy. Perhaps I should've written 'government' instead of politics as it's more accurate.
I agree, considering after the Vietnam War was the first time we didn't pay back our war debt while concurrently spending massive amounts of money on social welfare programs. Our debt to GDP is over 100% - the most since WWII - except now roughly 50% of that debt is held by foreigners. The country - more so our legislature - is too afraid to represent the interests of the nation. We will need to buckle down as a nation for a while before we can make other changes. This means a massive reduction in government spending and temporarily higher taxes - but that doesn't seem to make sense to people - they rather let this country degrade first.
Regulations need to be dealt with on a case by case basis - I believe you are intelligent so I get the sense you know that already. Let's go back to the gold standard since it would have protected a situation like the one we are in now from happening in the first place.
I am a little perplexed that you want to reduce competition for monopolies - we already know that doesn't work and creates an unfair influence on policy-making while further exploiting of our government. Kind of a contradiction, don't you think?
I was a Republican, but I am an independent now. Political affiliation is meaningless to me and it rather banal don't you think? In Plato's Republic book IV - he discusses the four virtues which although are intangible and abstract in nature - nevertheless is more important, in my opinion, than putting yourself or others into political categories.
I am a Civic Nationalist - that is my only real affiliation.

I've since given consideration to the idea that maybe reformers are needed. We have to have little government before we can have no government. This menendez trial for me will really be the indicator as to whether america is doomed or has a glimmer of hope.

Regulatory laws that strangle the free market and squeeze out competitors to giant monopolies. All the mega corporations are created by the government. Take away government's authority to do that and monopolies wont happen(Thanks free market!).
To be fair political categories used to be rather accurate in what type of policies you support but they've all been bastardized now so you're right their useless. I mean Donald Trump ran as a republican lol.
