It's not a rewrite, it's just a well written play with attractive actors. Came out a while back and was super popular, it was also hard to get tickets to which made it even more popular.

It’s about status. Women go to broadway for status appeal. It’s a demonstration that their man can shower them with gifts. It’s a rare female that cares enough about history to enjoy this for that reason. Ok... that was a NAWALT joke. You’re supposed to laugh. LOL.

It's a play about the guy that said the more debt the country has, the better we'll look when we ask other nations for loans.

as opposed to Jefferson who said "I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared."

If a woman is going to go to a play about a dead president, they'll love the one about the guy that agrees with them that having a debt and constantly depending on others for more money is a good thing.
