I want to visit Iceland one of these days, but not the usual tourist trap spots - I want to take a peek into its less urbanized life instead. I'd like to to the same to a lot of European countries, actually.
Absolutely. The best time I had was in Vik. However regarding the lagoons, there are many throughout the country that are easily accessible. This is why I went in late fall, I don't want to be there in the summer when the majority of tourists are there.

Went there once. Thousands of fat tourists, expensive as hell and it actually looks like you're in the middle of an industrial park when there instead of a relaxing spa. That all said, Iceland was still one of my favorite trips. Partly because I was a hardcore EVE pirate for many many years. XD
Agreed! This lagoon was the private one at our hotel. We went to blue lagoon, but we went at opening (8am). It's not so bad when the sun isn't out yet, but by 11:30am we were outta there.
