It's just a status thing they do so they can show off on fb/insta/snap etc. basically a legit excuse to post bikini pics they hope the chads following them will see without seeming too slutty to their friends and family, who will also be jealous at the exotic locations they went to. In reality they just got more debt because they took out a loan for the holiday because they 'hadn't had a holiday in ages' (which is about 6 months for a woman) and therefore deserved it and all they got in return was a couple dodgy tattoos they now regret and a few exotic STDs.
Same with hiking, they do it a couple of times a year mainly so they can take a dangerous looking selfie on some cliff to make their lives look more interesting than it is to their 'friends' with the bonus that they can show off their bod in lycra without seeming as overtly slutty. Also makes them feel like they are 'active', which alleviates the guilt felt from spending the other 50 weeks of the year on the couch looking through social media, gossip sites and watching unbearable amounts of trash reality tv while going through at least a bottle of red a night.
