I've been working at a grocery store as a cashier for about a month and some change now. Most of my co workers are girls and when I first started they were friendly, initiating conversations and what not. Now there was a day, about two weeks into my job as a cashier and I'll admit I wasn't having a very good day, along with the fact for whatever reason, every other customer, even when I didn't do anything wrong was going off on me. So there was a customer that got angry with me for not counting money right in front of her face and I told her she's going off for nothing and that was it. Apparently I wasn't supposed to say anything back.

Anyways, the manager talked to me, had me sign something since it happened within my 90 day probational period. I admit I messed up, I should've held my tongue that day but since then I haven't had any hiccups. I started to notice a lot of co workers that once were very talkative with me, not saying a word to me. At the time I didn't think much of it, I just thought they got used to me and before they just wanted to get to know me and now that they did they had no reason to really speak to me so I just kept doing my thing. I was on break one day and there was this guy who worked in another department.

I think it was produce but we were just casually talking and I mentioned how there was this one girl who recently transferred , that talks to me a lot and some how that branched off into him telling me how a lot of the female cashiers told him, I was rude to a customer for "no reason." I knew women were very gossipy in the work place but at that moment it hit me. I understood why they stopped talking to me or at least I knew the reason. What I didn't understand was, them being mad at me when the situation with the customer wasn't one sided and it had nothing to do with them.

The thing I notice with women is, if you make one single, solitary mistake in front of them, whether you trip on yourself, or you say the wrong thing, they'll label you for the rest of the time they see you. Do humans not make mistakes in this universe? I guess in their minds, they're perfect then. When the guy told me, I even thought back to a time where I needed my register scanned by a manager so I asked this one girl that happened to one of the "managers". She gave me a dirty, confused look and said "what?" Basically it all made sense. Why are women so petty?

I will say, even before finding out why, once they stopped talking to me, without care, I stopped as well. I'm glad I didn't make a fool out of myself and tried to talk to them anyways because had I done that, they would've been laughing behind my back, talking more crap. Like I said, this was before I found out so I pat myself on the back for having a back bone and not being a simp in the situation. I'm proud of myself for the fact that even before I knew the reason they stopped talking to me, I just kept focusing on my work without really caring about them not speaking to me. Women are huge cock blocks too because the girl I mentioned earlier, the one that transferred talks to me a lot when we work together.

I think she likes me but on one particular shift I caught one of the "managers" talking to her, the same manager that gave me a nasty, confused look when I was asking her to scan my register. Although I didn't really hear what they were talking about, the girl that transferred wasn't coming over to my aisle as much right after that which she always does. She was in the opposite aisle but it only made sense she did because even with her being on opposite ends, before the "manager" started talking to her, she would still come over to my aisle to talk to me, that's how much I think she liked me. I assumed she was talking about me and I think she did that so that the only girl that still has a conversation with me would eventually stop as well.

The thing they don't understand is, at end of it all I truly don't care. Their entire plan back fired. They tried to make me feel isolated and what they don't understand is that stuff like that only works on women. Men are used to being left alone and most of the time we prefer it. So in my head I laugh knowing they think they have me buckled, but all they've done is left me to do my job peacefully.

I never liked talking to these pretentious, gossipy, vapid excuse of women anyhow. Oh and the girl that recently transferred, I've heard other co workers talk crap about her as well. They all talk crap about each other, it's almost funny if it wasn't so pathetic. I just wanted to get this off my chest but yeah women are beyond petty. This is one of the traits that makes them very hard to deal with some times.
