While Bitcoin might not be a bad idea for some, it is not a great idea for many, and certainly not now. The more value a stock/currency has, especially on a bull market, the riskier it is.

Investing now, for most people, is moving into the biggest castle in the air we have seen in a long time. Most millionaires don’t flaunt it, and most didn’t get that way quickly. While it might be possible to make a ton of money very quickly using crypto currencies, and I’m not saying people shouldn’t look at them, unless someone has a strong hold on their finances already, they should wait. Instead of spending time learning about crypto, people should be making sure they have a strong grasp of financial literacy first. If you’re not financially literate and have no idea how to plan for retirement you need to do that before you look at bitcoin.

“Scared money doesn’t make money” would probably be in the top contenders for Slogan of The Year: Y2K & 2008.

Read Kahneman and Malkiel.
