Honestly, the guy should have been smarter than this. This is a(n) (another) great warning for men but completely avoidable. What's that old saying,"A fool and his money are soon separated."

The judge ruled that they were cohabiting even though they never shared a residence, based on the fact that they were a couple.

Fucking insane. Women are too dangerous to date these days.

Within a month of their initial meeting, the man began to pay all of the expenses for the woman’s home, gave her a monthly allowance, access to credit cards, a car, and medical/dental insurance. He also paid all of their expenses when they were together, including luxury holidays which often included trips on a private jet. The woman stopped working when he started paying her expenses. The couple spent most of each summer together at his cottage, and for much of each winter, spent time regularly at his condo in Florida.

Guy was a DUMBASS.

He figured he could "dance around the fire" play "juggling games" with flaming torches, etc... and rely on the fact that because she "technically" never had his house as her official "residence of record"* that he was being "smart/savvy" about it.

That's called "arrogance"... even "hubris"... I have no more "sympathy" for him than I would have for a "venomous snake handler" who gets bit by one of his "pet" rattlers.

* EDIT... oops have to correct that, the guy is even MORE of a "dumbass" than I imagined, to wit:
