Women are financially handicapped. I was reading the book "The millionaire next door:the surprising secrets of america's wealthy", and in a part where they asked what the american millionaire what they would say, they had this to say.

I’ve known a lot of rich kids; usually, if the son/daughter aren’t completely worthless nitwits, the sons will work pretty hard or will at least benefit from the wealthy parents’ affluent network for business. The daughters tend to go for worthless degrees (go figure), and benefit from the parents’ network by finding higher “quality” men to marry. I work in Finance and see this all the time.

Doublethink: Men are subsidized, therefore they aren't subsidized. Women aren't subsidized, therefore women are subsidized.

Maybe subsidizing women IS the problem. Did they stop to think about that, hm? Maybe teaching them that life will just hand them stuff reduces their resiliency and work ethic... Maybe that's why they "within the same occupational categories" fail to live up to the standards of men who had to work for it and don't have things handed to them.
