A close relative of mine took a trip to our home country a few months ago. This country, which I won't give name, is in a very traditional and religious part of Islamic world. This story was relayed to me after my relative returned to USA. I don't want to give country name or personal details because it is a very sensitive story I am only sharing as warning. I actually read MGTOW regularly, and immediately thought of MGTOW when hearing the story.

My relative flew there from the European airline, and on the flight next to him was an old lady, probably more than 80 years, who could not speak English or French. She had problems communicating with flight attendant and could not lift her bags, so my relative kindly helped her. They became talking, and eventually she told my relative the secret that had been bothering her. It is the reason she was on a flight to America: her son.

Her son was a very good student growing up. He made the good grades and passed all test with perfect score (this is in home country). He dreamed of being a dentist, and had the achievement and means to back it up. He ended up with this golden opportunity to study in UK to become a dentist after he completed his degree with perfect score. Our country has a terrible economy and government, so this was a very major improvement. Life was winning, but he was lonely.

In our culture there is no "casual" relationships, much less sexual activities. There is being a single boy and being a married man. His parents (mainly mother) insisted he return home to find a girl to marry (not like British 'gals are any better). So he did. He thought he was now very happy. He is a skilled professional with permanent visa in UK, so one visit to the embassy get his new wife complete documentation. But the docs take 6 weeks to process, so she was given a temporary.

They return to UK on temporary visa. He is enjoying his new life of not being lonely, of having someone to speak our language to. Five weeks pass. Six. The mail comes. She is now permanent resident of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The next day she disappears. He gets divorce papers in the mail almost a month later.

And now he lives in USA as a successful and single dentist, but he is damaged from that experience. He thinks he should marry an American now, but I don't know if that's any different. And his mother feels so guilty about making him do this just to satisfy tradition. I was so sad to hear.
