A very illogical and weak argument. Yet, somehow this thinking has cemented itself in normal thought.

True story:

My friend got married and divorced. She moved out because everything was in his name. Over the next year he worked on bettering himself and furthering his career. At the end of the year, he and her started talking again and hanging out, they decided to live together. I asked what's up and he said they had reconciled.

Further background - what started their divorce was that he caught her cheating (texts on her phone from another guy and she confessed when confronted). They tried therapy, didn't work, couple years of trying and divorce.

When asked what the hell, he said that she realized she was wrong and they were trying to make it work this time because she missed him when they were apart, etc.

So a year and some change has passed since they moved back in together and he invited me out for a drink when i was in town last week. We got on the topic of his reconciled ex-wife (he has gone to wearing a ring again even though they are not legally married, he said she is wearing hers too). He told me that things are mostly okay, except that she isn't working now (quit her job because - reasons) and has gained a large amount of weight over the past couple of years. Apparently, during the year of their separation she turned to partying and smoking weed while he was bettering himself. He had started talking with this really pretty chick from his job, but then his ex wife started sniffing around and he stopped pursuing her. To make matters worse, she knew about the hot chick and would pull this on him, saying he didn't want to be with her anymore because she was "fat and ugly" and he would try to tell her it wasn't true, blah blah.

I guess the reason he wanted to talk with me was that he was sickened by his ex wife. Apparently, she had approached him one day in the morning as he was headed to work and made him late. The reason? She had a dream where he started an affair with that hot chick at his job and left her. She then asked him if anything had ever happened between them (he and hot chick) and he said no (which nothing did happen, he told me, they just flirted and talked about maybe going out but didn't because they worked together and he focused on his health and his career). she then continued to poke around this topic for several days and tried to make him feel bad for something he didn't do.

A week before we went out to drink he and she had got into a conversation about that year they were apart. So, she had always had an inclination towards women (claiming to be bi but liking men more, when they dated). He knew about the guy that she had an affair with (the start of the end of the marriage) but when they were seperated she told him that she had dated the guy she had an affair with briefly, but then started dating a girl. And, wouldn't you know it, they had sex.

He then told me that since finding that out he couldn't look at her the same. While she had gained weight and wasn't attractive to him that way, he was pissed that she tried to make him feel bad for seeing that hot chick (which didn't happen) all while screwing some woman herself. Projection at it's finest.

I told him to leave and never look back, but he said he can't because she doesn't have a job and would feel guilty for kicking her out on the street.

women - never again.
