I'm sorry you live in India so you feel forced to marry. Most guys from India are in this boat. I guess it will take a two or three generations before enough fathers are understanding towards their sons going their own way. Also please note her preference for a software professional not just because it's fairly common in India now, or because of the money. Quiet nerdy boys are typically socially underdeveloped and have fewer options on the dating market. This makes her potential future husband very easy to manipulate and bully. She doesn't want an athlete or business owner because these men would have other options and know it, so they wouldn't have to take her shit all the time and keep giving her all the cash in exchange for nothing. Do not feel burdened to have offspring just because you are offspring. I am the only possible way that I know of for my family name to be passed down to another generation but I plan on having no kids. This doesn't invalidate what my ancestors did, it's just a choice that I make alone. People will say " you are part of an unbroken chain of ancestors stretching back forever" well duh, otherwise you would've never been born.

I can imagine the cultural pressure you feel but your decision to have kids or not should be your own.

There are no biological reasons for men to get married in their 20s or 30s, as unlike women we dont face menopause. The only thing which is required in India for raising children comfortably and secure the best future possible is money, which only rises with age and career progression. There are many politicians and actors who have married and fathered children in their late 40s or 50s and beyond. So middle class men need to understand this.

Hypergamy is a well entrenched fact in Indian society. And it's something which not even the women want to change because it benefits them. So in short, work hard and enjoy when it's your turn.
