"Because then we fall into the toilet" my ex asked when I asked her this question. I then asked her why they don't put the seat down first. "Because we're in a rush". It was a pretty god damn ridiculous answer.

Its a controlling behavior and also a shit test. It is double intended.

If you ever lived with females, as flatmates. Things always get sour if you give them any trust.

They will start with small things like that, toilet seat. And escalate to outrageous stuff, like accusing you of not cleaning when they were the ones who made the mess. Or even like see many faults in others, and start shit for small things, when they are doing much more. It is a manipulative behavior.

Then gaslight you.

If you do as they say, they will see that as weakness and will invent new shit. And can become openly disrespectful or abusive.

If you ignore them but still talk with them they will still have a foot in the door.

If you fight them, then they will backdown but sabotage you passively, or complaint to the landlord or police.

The only thing that works is really talk as little as possible, avoid them.

At the first red flag cut all conversation. Make sure you dont say hello, because "the way" you say hello can be a reason for her to get angry.

If you dont even say hello. She will complain to everyone and her friends that you dont even say hello. And that is good. Talk only when strictly necessary.
