They were right at that time(valid even now) it was a waste if resources.Now these days 40% of female doctors abandon their career after giving birth and not return back.

Doctors were scarce at that time,society could not afford to loose doctors after investing so much time and money.As I said before you cannot evaluate objectively those times with today mentality and culture.

In 30 years from now the culture will be different and they will judge us.

The backwards times, pffff! Today we are advanced and spend tons of resources and attention so chicks can become doctors before quitting the career and (the lucky ones) decide to be a SAHMs after all, AFTER the completed edu. It MUST count for something, tho, no?

Perhaps there is a better way.

I expect that the answer would be the same if it was the letter from a single father with two children who would have had similar time usage problems.

Besides, the points in that letter have proven "spot on" in reality.
