Anyone else remember when it would have been considered "cowardly" to let a woman suffer? For example, if it's cold out, a coward would keep his coat while she went cold. Or if there were an altercation, it would have been shameful if you (as a male) were uninjured while she was injured.

I know times have changed, and it's really not like that anymore but I do remember when that was a kind of ethic instilled on us.
