The shit of it is... they supposedly do it to keep the wife "happy", right?

Except it doesn't work. Because most of the time all she does when they get back home is BITCH about this, that & the other thing that "wasn't right/good/fun" about the vacation (which presumably she was doing that all DURING the vacation as well*).

So you have to wonder...knowing HE doesn't enjoy himself on the trips, and from all the back end bitching & griping apparently SHE doesn't either... WTF do they keep doing it for?

And the answer is... yes to get the pics to post to Fakebook & all that (though they really AREN'T the root cause, as this shit long predated FB or smart-camera-phones etc) -- no the REAL reason isn't just to get pics & such - rather it is because all of her "friends" (scar quotes, because NOT really "friends" at all) and coworkers, etc -- her so called "social circle" -- essentially ALL of them do it every year too.

To NOT do likewise -- to NOT go to one of the latest (or at least fairly recent) "destination" -- is to lose status in the social circle.

* Of course she really doesn't have anyone to blame but herself, since invariably SHE is the one who made all the choices,decisions, plans (where to go, when, what activities to try, which motel/resort to stay at, which airline to take, etc) -- not that that fact stops her from blaming ANYONE and EVERYONE else (including "dear hubby").

My personal (fairly recent) favorite...*

Was the couple that (with the guy having ALL of the "doesn't like to" things from my first comment above) went on a two week vacation to a resort in the Dominican Republic. What did she bitch about when they got back? Well beyond the normal array of complaints (see prior comment) she bemoaned how "weird" it felt to be chauffeured/shuttled right from the airport directly to the 'resort" -- especially given how POOR the people were, and RUN DOWN she felt the rest of the country was (seen through the SUV windows on the way from the airport to the resort).

Mind you she didn't want to go out and "mingle" with the actual population; she really also wasn't expressing "concern" over their poverty (which compared to the other half of the same island, ain't so bad) either, certainly not any desire to "help." No what she was expressing was a sort of "disgust" that she wasn't somehow sufficiently "insulated" from seeing it (on that short drive from airport to resort), and that it apparently was enough to make it difficult for her to then properly "enjoy" the resort. (Which AFAIK she never does anyway, regardless of the resort's location).

I mean seriously, SHE HERSELF picked/planned that location/trip, selected the resort, the travel package, etc. Did she NOT bother to learn ANYTHING about the country she was going to before she went? (BTW that's a rhetorical, of course she didn't.)

That's like taking a trip to Egypt, and complaining about the sand. Or that the "sights" just seemed to be a bunch of "ruined old buildings" and other odd things, like you know this one place, behind some "rock formation" that kinda/sorta looked like a big cat, but with some weird dude's head on it (spoiled because somebody broke his nose off)... anyway behind that there was this bunch of, well like really BIG flat-sided "teepee" things, made out of these really BIG blocks of stone. And that was it! I mean I guess you were supposed to be "awed" by the size of the things or something, but how long can you keep that up? It's like booooo-ring, what else you got? I mean is there like a McDonalds or a... Ooooh look honey, a Pizza Hut!

* This is to be understood as a sarcastic/satirical "favorite" -- in reality I think I'd rather give myself a "hot sauce" enema than hear her babble about it (or anything else, ever) again -- it's only "value" is as used here: an example of female idiocy.
