I like having a cat as she does not require as much of my attention as a dog would. Also, I enjoy the fact that my cat is only friendly towards me and is quite unpleased with others. Overall her personality reminds me a lot of my own which resonates well with me.

I prefer cats if I'm gonna have a pet. I travel a lot and live kind of a nomadic lifestyle. A cat can be at home for days by itself and not give a fuck. A dog? No such thing, they despise being left alone and they'll tear shit up and it's not good for the dog and it's not good for you.

I love dogs, but I won't keep one. Maybe when I have a good amount of property and the dog can run around and explore on his own while I'm gone. But to coop a dog up in a house or a kennel because you're gone all the time? That's just fucked up in my opinion. Dogs hate that.

Plus, dogs require 24/7 attention. Sure, once they get a little older they mellow out and they'll just kinda chill with you. But until then, they NEED you there. Feeding, walks, etc. Cats in comparison are pretty low maintenance although they can make a fucking mess. I think a lot of people don't like cats because they've only encountered neurotic cats. Neurotic cats are usually neurotic because their owners don't treat them right. They'll run away, tear shit up, scratch and bite the fuck out of you for basically no reason, make a bunch of racket, etc. A cat that's raised and treated right from youth will be a lot better. Plus, cats tend to imprint on one person. They're not a communal pet. Cats can like a few people, but they usually love one person and follow them around. Dogs fucking love everybody. Plus, for me, dogs just make too much damn noise.
