Women used to be married off when they turn about this age range in history and it was socially acceptable.

More than that... *historically it was socially EXPECTED, encouraged, often even "arranged" (by parents and others) for young women to "marry" during their teen years, and preferably/ideally to marry a fully-mature "established" MAN who was ~10+ (even 20+) years older.

The entire phenom of "dating" (as opposed to "courting" (which was a significantly DIFFERENT thing) -- and particularly the phenom of "dating" people your OWN age (give or take a year or two, maybe 3 or 4 at most)... is in fact a very RECENT thing.

Only goes back about 100 years (and arguably not even*); basically about the same time as "compulsory" public schooling (especially thru "secondary/high school"), and particularly the larger "consolidated" schools where everyone was segregated into a "class" by age (group of kids all born within a year of each other), as opposed to the older "one room schoolhouse" model with a single teacher instructing an array of students covering MULTIPLE (usually 8+, even 10+ or more) ages.

Add onto that, the advent of "mass media" -- especially television & film -- and make no mistake, all of THAT had an "agenda"** as well (one large part of which WAS in fact the promotion/indoctrination of kids into the idea that they SHOULD only seek"partners"from their own age group {give or take a year or three}, and to simultaneously present couples where there was a substantial age difference as "weird/abnormal" even "creepy").

* Point of fact is that substantial "age disparity" between husband & wife was pretty much the "norm" up until the "Baby Boom" generation. And I think an argument actually COULD be made that it was mostly that "Boom" (following a "bust/trough/dearth" of low child birthrates during the Great Depression & WWII years, i.e. within the prior "Silent" generation) that caused (demographically FORCED) the change in the "norms." There were just TOO many damned "boomer" women, and an insufficient number of "Silent" generation men... so if women wanted a "boyfriend/husband" (and they largely still did) they HAD to take what they could get: meaning someone nearer/within their own age-group. (And then likewise, I think that in terms of "social norms" that also re-energized the whole "feminism" schtick, not to mention likely DROVE the "divorce epidemic" that followed in the late 1970's & 80's)

** No LESS of a "propagandistic agenda" to reshape society than the present "SJW" and "LGBTBBQ" stuff (etc).

Fertility has nothing to do with it. Posts like yours is how people (and subreddits) end up on watch lists.

When I was in grade school, i thought jr high girls were hot.

When i was in jr high, I thought high school girls were hot.

When I was in high school I thought college girls were hot.

Now-a-days, most women under 35 don't even get a blip on my radar.
