Emotions are energy in motion. They can be expressed or repressed. Chronic repression of emotional energy can lead to neurosis, depression or insanity. We create emotion as a response to our environment and when we are blocked emotionally, we cease to relate to the real situations in our lives. Fantasy and dreams then begin to produce images that connect to those emotions and supplement our conscious attitudes. A stoic attitude towards emotions is to temper the intensity of the feelings with the knowledge that suffering and death are assured and can be expected. Stubbing your toe in the dark is more disturbing than getting a shot from your doctor. Emotionally healthy women express their emotions freely and enthusiastically. They react directly to their environment directly and immediately and that energy is used; not stored to be expressed at a later, inappropriate time.

A man also needs to express his emotions but there are several differences. Firstly, he should use his wisdom to deem if staying silent would benefit him and restrain himself with the knowledge that no action done in anger has its intended effect (Gengis Khan). It is easy to be angry but difficult to be angry at the right person for the right thing (Aristole). Secondly, his identity should be centered within his core; within the truest part of himself that is eternal and unmoved by the drama of daily life (Carl Jung).

This is the essence of what creates rock solid frame.

A Ship Tossed upon the Stormy Waves

The oceans are a symbol of the never ending deep of the unconscious. Our conscious minds float upon the waters. The knowledge, experience and language that you use to create your boat will determine if it is cap-sized in life's storms. A horse is also a symbol of the raw animal power that our mind rests upon. How does a rider tell the horse which direction to go and at what speed? Confidence in the relationship we have with our bodies, emotions and unconscious gives us control over their manifestation. Focus upon a point in the distance and clarity of communication carries us to our destination.

Therefore, emotions cannot simply be ignored, repressed and scoffed at. We must have the clarity of mind to direct the raw power of our emotions to achieve our goals.
