A few years back I was asked what the difference was between these two statement.

When you ask someone why they are doing something they can give you any answer that fits in that moment. To get to the core of their reasoning, ask what purpose it serves. It forces the person to examine the true reasons for their actions.

Example: why are you mgtow? Because women.... Because the courts....

What purpose does you being mgtow serve? It affords me the freedom to choose my destiny and to solely rely on myself. It protects me from a corrupt court system

Try it out with people you know, most people have never been asked what purpose their actions are serving. Watch their mind race, then prepare for a generic answer.
