Since GMOW, I’ve realized that there’s not much of a benefit of living in a major city where everything is more expensive. I live in a downtown area, and for example my rent is around $3,000 in a nice high-rise building. Parking, groceries, everything is more expensive. And I don’t even go out much at night, I’m more of an active person (hiking, kayaking, sports, etc.)
For that much money per month, I could buy a mansion in a city like St. Louis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, etc.
I own my business, and I have remote employees. The weird thing is, clients pay me more because I have an “office-address” in the “city.” Seriously, I can charge more, and they pay it. It’s like they trust me more for some reason.
Has anyone moved from a major urban city to a more minor or “second/third-tier” city? Are you happy with your decision? Do you get paid more or less since the move?
Thanks!
