They must've been on a date or possibly early in a relationship. The woman wasn't bad looking in the face although she wore a lot of make up, she was smiling at the guy a lot and he was smiling too. As I walked to the grill counter to order a steak sandwich they walked towards me and I turned and waited for the counter girl as they walked by behind me.
I heard the guy say something as they approached and I didn't pay attention to what he said but they way he said it made me feel embarrassed for both of them. Whatever he said he said it with a smile and she was smiling and I just stared ahead not wanting to think too much about the awkwardness I was witnessing.
They went behind me and then they started turning the corner so after three or four seconds the counter girl hadn't gotten there yet so I glanced left and saw the woman looking back at me with a grimace on her face as they were about to walk out of view.
And that made me so glad I don't feel like dating anymore. Forcing and faking conversations is the worst way you can spend your time. Poor bastard seemed to be better at it than I was but that's a fools errand for everyone involved.
Anyway, this made me glad I decided to go my own way.
