Hector Berlioz is known to be one of the greatest French composers of all time. His works include Symphonie Fantastique (literally translates to "Fantastic Symphony"), Harold in Italy, L'Enfance du Christ (The Childhood of Christ), and Requiem. These are epic and beautiful works, and there's no denying that Berlioz himself is a musical genius.

He did, however, have an unhealthy obsession with love, and that makes him a blue-pill kinda guy. Once, he saw a performance of Shakespeare's Hamlet, and he immediately fell in love with the woman who played the role of Ophelia. Her name was Harriet Smithson, and Berlioz had his eyes only on her. He would send her countless love letters, but her complete lack of a response would cause him to write Symphonie Fantastique.

The symphony tells the story of an artist who is so desperately in love with a girl. The love becomes unrequited, and the artists, who is in despair, overdoses on opium. He dreams of killing the girl and being sent to be executed.

Helen Smithson was in the audience when Symphonie Fantastique premiered. When she realized that the music was about her, she finally managed to meet Berlioz. The man had finally met his love, and the two got married. But unfortunately, it was a short marriage because they had a terrible relationship. Everything fell apart, the two grew unhappy with each other, and Berlioz's dream of finding his true love was shattered when the divorce was finalized.

I'd say that Berlioz had an unhealthy fantasy. One look at Harriet, and he began to envision an unbreakable marriage between a man and a woman. But this fantasy turned into an obsession. One that tainted his vision of reality. He thought he would be happy with a wife, but it didn't turn out that way at all.

Seeing as how I am a big fan of classical music, I do admire Berlioz's grandiose music. I can't help but feel that he was so stuck in a blue-pill mindset because he couldn't let go of this fantasy.

Don't be like Berlioz. Don't be obsessed with a woman. Don't create this fantasy that seriously downplays what happens in real life. Just live your own life.
