This dude's balls dropped off a LONG, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (presuming he ever had balls to begin with). He doesn't even have the first idea of how to "put up a fight". Now that all that's out of the way, here's how I picture it unfolding:

He's going to keep the peace, as per usual in this story, mainly to keep her happy, mainly so that he doesn't lose access to occasional starfish sex. She will grow to resent him ever more each day, even more so than she already does. Finally, she will "accidentally" let her ex insert his penis into her ~~septic tank~~ oops I mean vagina, and then husband will somehow find out. After learning of this, he will continue to keep the peace by accepting the deal: She will use her ex to fulfill her sexual desires (AF), and use her husband for emotional and financial support (BB). A tale as old as time.

I'm kind of torn on this because on the one hand the wife is working on pushing him out in favour of the new guy (we see right through you, ladies) and easing the transition for the kids to this new life but on the other hand hubby doesn't know this and the arguments she is giving him in favour of it, while post hoc rationalizations to guys like us in the know, actually make sense and hubby saying no to them is simply just ego on his part.
