Not long ago I was talking to a neighbor who failed to replace broken light bulb. Mechanic explained. Have to turn wheel OUT, not in (to get more room for hand/reach), apparently. It used to be much more simple, much less "bring it into the shop" planned obsolescence like.

Maybe you didn't fail. Maybe it's like with relationships capsizing en masse. Unwinnable.

Stop calling it failure and start calling it a learning curve. Welcome and embrace learning. Every "failure" is an opportunity to grow and to learn. Wright brothers failed for years before they succeeded. Having said that, learn to realize your limitations. If your hands are too large to reach into small spaces, you didn't fail, as you have no control over that. You realized that you needed some help at this point, and it's okay to ask for help.

You can't fix it, so what? Do something else for yourself while it's being fixed.

I've been there more than a lot of guys.

I do most of my own work, but it's getting tougher to deal with some jobs being an old mgtow

I damn near cross threaded a harmonic damper once, just barely stopped in time, doing a timing chain job.

Rebuilt a chevy small block and after all back together, wouldn't start. Turns out that those engines need valves back WAY off, or first start would not happen. I thought I failed, but an experienced mechanic set me straight

It's about knowledge and experience. And sometimes it's not having a lift or a garage that makes it worth bringing to someone

Don't sweat it, everybody had to learn everything new at some point.
