"The woman is always right". In computing, we call this a "Deadlock situation" which results from poorly written code that always assumes itself to be the most important part of a transaction. Poor code like that creates lots of nasty problems in transaction computing such as writing to databases. Happens in "enterprise class" software all the time by bad (especially outsourced/foreign) programmers.

The only way to write good code is to accept that any section of code in a transaction should be capable of yielding to another transaction. This can also be seen as the logical proof that "the woman is always right" is a false statement and any code that asserts itself to be non-yielding in a transaction is always a bug to be squashed.
