This was taken from the personal finance megathread that is stickied:

Starting with future divorce decrees, alimony is no longer deductible by the payer. Likewise, it is no longer taxable to the recipient.

In other words, a greater transfer of wealth from the higher income earner to the lowest income earner in divorces...and we all know who the vast vast vast majority of the lower income earners are in marriages.
